Rumbolt Place
My preschool is on Rumbolt Place which is named for
one of Mount Cashell Orphage's famous charges,
Ignatius Rumbolt.
He was a major figure head in the St. John's music community
who directed many choirs.
On a morning when I had a false start to my work day
I could not help but think of this verse of
the Ode to Newfoundland (written by Sir Cavendish Boyle)
which no doubt was directed
by Ignatius Rumbolt more than a handful of times.
Perhaps I was humming this as I trudged down Rumbolt Place.
| When blinding storm gusts fret thy shore, And wild waves lash thy strand, Thro' spindrift swirl, and tempest roar, We love thee windswept land. We love thee, we love thee We love thee windswept land. |
