Rocket Bakery, Water Street
On the the third floor of Rocket Bakery is
common room that is used by the public for
a variety of events. When you come
to the top of the stair there is a window.
If you happen to look out the window
you'll note that three building have made
a triangle alleyway. It's frankly more of
an oubliette than an alley. You can't see the ground from
this vantage point. If you look up you'll see grating
perhaps to keep intruders (both the two and four leggged
kind) from entering.
I guess it just struck me as a symbol of
stubbornness and/or perseverance that a
maple tree might find a point here on a ledge
to grow and thrive. A weird little miracle I suppose.
